1959 Austin Healey 3000 Mk 1

The “Big Healeys” have long been viewed as the ultimate British sportscars of the 1960’s, the 3000 being the most desirable.  Development of the line started with the 1952 Healey 100 launched at the London Motor Show.  The evocative lines and superb handling of the Healey made it a sleek and successful rally car all around the world.  With its 6-cylinder 2996cc engine giving plenty of torque, the cars are more than capable of long distance touring.

This is an early 1959 example and has undergone an extensive restoration several years ago.

She was stripped to the chassis and painstakingly rebuilt using only Healey specialist components including Dennis Welch etc.

Many original features were retained during the process and the rare hard top is an original 1960s works type .

There is a comprehensive  history file including many invoices dating back to the 1990s and photos of the restoration.

Dennis Welch balanced and race prepared the original engine and it is one of the most tractable and powerful 3000s I have ever experienced.

On the road this is one of the quickest “Big Healeys” possible with a superbly set up chassis and great overdrive gearbox ready to embark on any road trip and bring a smile to your face.

This is not one for the faint hearted but a fantastic way to experience the great Healey design.
