|After years of mass producing the 1800cc B GT it was about time MG finally built an exciting variant especially after the unpopular C model which did not fulfil the needs of the sporting enthusiast.|
Costello Engineering were the first to produce a modified B roadster fitted with the ubiquitous Rover V8 and Abingdon effectively stole the concept and put the GT into production in 1972.
The end result was a really special performance car very popular with enthusiasts and even the motoring press.
The Mg V8 car company was formerly Costello and built this stunning example in 1983 utilising a standard B roadster and a strengthened body shell.
The standard of build is outstanding with red oxide dipped steel meaning she has maintained a superb finish with no rust .
The Rover V8 engine is a high compression unit and mated to a slick 5 speed gearbox the result being a far better drive than a standard BL built example.
The history file documents continual maintenance with some invoices dating back to the early 80s complete with an original owners manual.
On the road the V8 roars and provides plenty of grunt propelling her unlike any other MG with high speed cruising easily achieved with the 5 speed gearbox.
