The Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution, PajEvo for short, was built from ‘97 through ‘99 as a means of sneaking into the Dakar Rally’s production-based T2 class. The Dakar Rally is the toughest car (and bike) race in the world, and building a car for it is a serious task.
It should come as no surprise that the PajEvo is a serious car and it claimed 15 years of wins in the Dakar!
With only 2500 built most were Automatics with manual versions being rare and sort after.
The factory was given carte blanche to engineer these to a very high standard including upgraded suspension, under shield skid plates under the car, 280 bhp engine and a host of competition upgrades.
Many owners say they are unbreakable and completely overengineered even compared to the fabulously built standard Mitsubushi product!
This beautiful example was imported privately by a serious collector who only desired the rare manual version.
During his 3 -year ownership he has fitted a new clutch, timing belt windscreen, sports exhaust, full certificated Dinitrol cavity injection treatment and detailed the car.
She is also fitted with 16inch Rays Alloys (also supplier to Motorsport) with off-road tyres which really fill the wheel arches compared to the small standard wheels and a UK Radio /Nav system.
On the road, performance is brisk for a 4×4 with 0-60 mph in under 8 secs and loads of torque from the big V6 making it very easy to cruise at high speeds.
