1967 ALFA ROMEO 1600 DUETTO SPIDER – SOLD

The ancestry of the Alfa Romeo Duetto started with the Pininfarina designed Spider Speciale Aerodynamica shown at the 1961 Turin Motor Show. Concept to production took a little longer in those days so the Duetto only came into fruition in 1966. Initially it was not well received and quickly earned the nickname ‘Osso di Seppoa’ (cuttlefish). The name ‘Duetto’ came about from a competition held by Alfa Romeo to distinguish the car from its Giulia 105 series stable mates, the coupé and berlina and was accepted for its reference to the two seat layout.

Records show that this very early and rare matching numbers 1570cc Duetto Spider offered today was manufactured in right hand drive format in 1966 and first registered in the UK on the 19th July 1967.
