1967 FIAT ABARTH 595 – £26,950
Millions of Fiat 500s were produced and they are loved by motoring enthusiasts around the world, a friend of mine even drove a standard one home to the Uk from southern Italy and still believes the trip was the highlight of his motoring experiences despite max speed of 50 mph!
But if you wanted more useable power there was a solution from Carlo Abarth who set up a tuning business in Turin in the 1960s specifically to tune Fiats.
Conversions by Abarth like this 595 provided much more power and top speeds around 80 mph a massive gain over the standard car and so much so that these tuned 500s even successfully raced against far more powerful rivals.
This is a genuine Abarth certificated by Fiat and the ACI and as such and has the original chassis plate and stamped numbers on the inner shell arch.
She was restored in Italy in 1997 and came to the Uk 2 years later owned by enthusiasts and mainly looked after by the renowned Abarth specialist Middle Barton garage who have also rebuilt the engine to 695 specification.
Please do not confuse this with recreations as an original Abarth is very rare and a true collectors item that would supplement any serious car collection.
On the road she is a delight with fluid steering and an amazing sounding engine providing a great fun drive with stunning looks
Supplied fully inspected, serviced with a 12 month warranty.
