1983 MAZDA RX7 – SOLD
Mazda persisted with the Rotary design and why not as it was a remarkable concept way ahead of most competitors in the 1970/80s.
The RX7 was a super compact sports coupe with 50/50 weight distribution, 105 bhp, five-speed gearbox and 1000kg only meaning 120mph, nimble handling, super slick engine and gearbox.
This was years ahead of European cars and sold like hot cakes in the USA where they really embraced the concept but in the UK it was a rarer sight mainly due to being expensive.
This stunning example was supplied by Watsons Mazda of Birmingham in August 1983 and has enjoyed an easy life of enthusiast owners and consistent maintenance.
She has never been restored and has original panels, underside and interior also without any performance upgrades or modifications.
All tools, handbooks, and stamped service book are available inc the cover of the rare metal sunroof.
With only six owners she has been part of a car collection for the past 7 years but once back in road use this year has enjoyed an engine rebuild with new Apex seals, new tyres etc and is driving beautifully now and ready to be enjoyed.
There are very few original UK examples like this and it is an important car in Sports car history.
On the road she is a delight with the smoothest engine of any 1980s car and a very positive feel on the chassis, she could be used for any occasion and will bring a smile to your face.
