1983 JAGUAR XJ S V12 HE – 46,000 MILES – £26,950

How could you replace the Superlative E Type and please the buyer safety experts and move into the 1970s?
The XJ S had big shoes to fill and by the mid-1970s although the E Type was looking dated it was still a desirable icon.
So early on at its launch in 1975, the XJ S was not very well received with many disliking its shape especially the rear buttresses and more contemporary looks.
I have personal memories as my dad receiving his white one in 1975 and I can remember it being good looking but very poorly built with lots of mechanical defects from day one!
However, over the years Jaguar managed to develop the car to become a much more appealing grand touring machine and the HE model was a much improved and economical version of the original car whilst being much better built.
This is an early HE model and has been cherished all its life with low mileage and a super history file with original books.
During the past 4 years she has lived in Germany where many thousands of Euros were spent improving suspension, body, mechanicals resulting in one of the best examples available.
All work has been documented and she remains in beautiful condition.
On the road she belies her years and is so smooth and refined it reminds you that Jaguar built some fine innovative machines that were world beaters.
