Triumph GT6 mk11 – Sold

Triumph needed to create a car that competed with the highly successful Mgb gt and so instructed Michelotti to design Something beautiful utilising the hardware from the successful Spitfire.

Most car enthusiasts would agree that he pencilled a curvy, pretty car that in many ways was superior to the Mg.

The first version was moderately successful and by the time the mk11 was in production in 1969 it was a well sorted and engineered machine with much improved rear suspension design.

The 2 litre six cylinder engine provides good performance for  the diminutive coupe and in its day it Was named “the poor mans E type”

This example has only had a total of 8 owners and recent mechanical refurbishment this year totals over £6000.

This includes a thorough rebuild of the engine ,shock absorbers, high torque starter, stainless Stella exhaust  and many other items.

There are only 28 mk11s surviving in the Uk and it is undoubtably far prettier than the high volume mk111.

Although not rusty the paintwork has been attended to many years ago and is  tidy but not concours.

This is a straightforward genuine example that is very well sorted and a joy to look at.

Performance is surprisingly brisk with a very short throw gear change with smooth overdrive on third and fourth.

I have driven the car for over 200 miles and enjoyed every mile with its go kart style handling and strong engine pulling the car along with perfect reliability.

One of the prettiest value for money 1960s Coupes with Italian styling and far rarer than an MG.
